Okay wait-

I’ve seen a post before saying that the sides might all be in Thomas’ head. (Like figuratively, only he can see them)

And that makes sense because of Joan’s line at the end of ‘Can Lying Be Good?’

At 26:29 Joan says “I just… I just hope you didn’t do that thing you do sometimes where you freak out and stand in the middle of your living room and talk to yourself for twenty minutes”

Implying that Joan has witnessed him talking to the sides, but only Thomas could see them.

But then I remembered this one brief part in “Why Do We Get Out Of Bed In The Morning?”

At 1:51

Logan looks over his shoulder slightly, as the door closes. He’s checking to make sure that the friends are gone before he starts talking to him.

If his friends can’t see him, then why would he bother doing that quick little check? He would’ve appeared earlier to at least talk to Thomas about that idea, not really expecting a verbal response.

But also, they know they’re being recorded, as we’ve seen in various points in the series, and we can, obviously, see them.

This has lead me to the conclusion that, the sides are real, Thomas isn’t crazy or hallucinating them, (If he was hallucinating them, Roman wouldn’t have been able to give him the binder with the sheet music in the christmas episode) and other people can see them but they can choose wether or not others can see them, sort of like ghosts in certain fics.

I guess they live by a certain rule, that’s like “Don’t let Thomas’ friends or anyone out in the real world see you”

I highly doubt this will ever be directly addressed in the series, but logically I think this is how the sides work within that universe.

(Side note: Can you imagine this as an episode? Like one of Thomas’ friends leaves after something and comes back right when one or more of the sides pop up like “Hey Thomas I think I left my walle- What the-” )

This would be amazing!

He checks?? He checks?? I didn’t notice he checks???

I will never write enough fanfics about this concept.

Me: *vibrating* why do I want to write something about this now?
