honestly the tfa autobot team is possibly my favorite found family because to begin with none of them actually wanted to be there. optimus is a high-ranking officer who feels like he was meant for more than the really lousy assignment he got; bumblebee was expelled from boot camp and is now stuck repairing space bridges – but at least he’s still got his best friend bulkhead, who might actually be the only one doing what he wants to be doing, although being on a team that doesn’t want to be doing that has to put a damper on it; prowl feels like he’s at a dead end in his ninjabot training and would rather not be on a team at all; and ratchet really, really just wants to take a nap. and then on top of all that, they suddenly come across the thing containing the life force of their entire species, are attacked by THE supreme leader of their ancient enemies for it, and end up shipwrecked and stranded on some backwater planet with no way to contact home. but instead of breaking them apart, all that chaos just takes the ragtag crew of castoffs they were before and forges them into a family who genuinely care about and depend on each other.
